>2 PhD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN ICT WITHIN THE AREA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Closing date: 2006-04-07
2 PhD research fellowships are offered within the area of Information Systems at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDI) in the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering (IME), The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
The project “Model-driven support for Multi-channel Mobile Work” (M3W) is a cooperation between NTNU and the University of Bergen. It is planned for 4 years from early 2006 and includes three PhD projects, whereof 2 at IDI, NTNU. The project will investigate the future of mobile knowledge-work technology by developing and evaluating a prototype process support system for mobile work. The mobile work system prototype will be model-driven to support rapid tailoring of work processes to utilise technology changes and to reflect changing requirements at the organisation, group and user levels, and it will be multi-channel to support coordinated use of multiple types of mobile devices and other computing equipment in work processes. More information on the M3W project can be found at http://m3w.idi.ntnu.no, where the project plan describe what work-packages the two fellows are intended to address within the project.
Relevant education as Master in Information Systems or equivalent is required. Applicants must satisfy the formal grades requirements for admission to the PhD studies at NTNU.
See http://www.ime.ntnu.no/Dr.gradsstudier/ for detailed information on the PhD programs administrated by IME.
PhD fellowships at NTNU are normally awarded for a total of 4 years with 25% of the time spent on specified work. This work is primarily teaching assistance at the bachelor and master’s degree level. These duties are commonly distributed over the 4 years, with a larger proportion in the first two years.
Further information on these fellowships can be obtained from: Professor John Krogstie,

NTNU wants to increase the proportion of women in its scientific posts. Women are encouraged to apply.
The application must contain information about education, exams and previous experience. Certified copies of testimonies and documents must be attached.
It is requested that research publications and other written material submitted for the evaluation of academic credentials, should be provided in 3 copies. In case of co-authorship, the applicant should provide a brief, written statement explaining his/her own contribution.
The applicant should also submit a short description of the research s/he intends to carry out during the period of the scholarship, drawn up in co-operation with the department. This description should include a problem statement, research design, and expected results from the PhD-studies.
