General explanation about scholarship programme of the Republic of 
Indonesia for foreign students
Darmasiswa Scholarship Programme
Darmasiswa Scholarship programme is a programme offered by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to foreign students from friendly countries who want to study Indonesian or regional language, traditional music, traditional dance or sculpture at Indonesian universities or institutes of higher education.
How to participate in the Darmasiswa programme
If you are interested in this programme, you have to apply through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country. You have to fill in 5 sheets of application form which is available at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in your country.
Requirements
a. The candidate should not be over 35 years old.
b. The candidate should have completed at least secondary education.
c. The candidate has to submit a copy of his/her latest academic certificate.
d. The candidate must have a basic knowledge on subject that he/she is applying for.
e. The candidate should be in good health and must submit a health certificate.
f. 5 (five) passport photos 3x4 cm.
g. Copy of passport which is still valid for the minimum of 2 years.
h. Good ability in English language for communication.
Length of Study
Darmasiswa Scholarship non-degree programme lasts one year and cannot be used for doing any kind of research in Indonesia.
Time of Lectures
The lectures of the first semester start at the beginning of September. However, the lectures at the University of Indonesia in Depok start in the middle of August. the students are obliged to participate in the orientation activity and course of Indonesian language in the last week of August before the lectures start.
Deadline for submitting the application form
The application form should be submitted before 20 January 2006 to the Third Secretary of the Embassy, Mrs. Jani M. Sasanti, or Ms. Soňa Čermáková (Social and Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Nad Buďánkami II/7, 150 00 prague 5 - Smichov).
Scholarship provided
The selected candidates will study free of charge and get a monthly scholarship of 600. 000 Rp. plus 150. 000 Rp. a year for buying clothes.
Annoucement of the selection results
The results of the selection will be announced approximately in May 2006.
Visa
The selected students use the visa for cultural-social visit that will be arranged at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the country of residence. After the students come to Indonesia, the visa will be changed to a one-year stay permitby the Indonesian Secretariat of State and Foreign Ministry. The student is not allowed to use a tourist visa for studying in Indonesia as he/she would get into trouble when arranging a stay permit in Indonesia.
Cost of travelling to Indonesia
The travel cost to and from Indonesia will not be covered by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
