PhD studentships available* in the Department of Anatomy, University of
Bristol to commence October 2006*
An internationally renowned 5** RAE rated research department that also
houses the MRC Centre for Synaptic Plasticity. We have 32 academic members
of staff, all engaged in active research programmes in a wide variety of
topics and using a range of current techniques.
Most research staff work in the following areas:
- Neuroscience
- Neuroendocrinology and Reproduction
- Musculoskeletal research
- Equine Science
The Department has approximately 30 postdoctoral scientists and 35 PhD
students.
Our research profile covers both basic and applied (clinical-based) research
and utilises a range of models relevant to both human and veterinary
medicine. Research programmes adopt a multidisciplinary approach, exploiting
a combination of molecular biological, physiological, pharmacological and
biomechanical techniques to investigate normal and abnormal function, from
the molecular to the systems level.
