Research Associate in Applied Microeconomics - Microeconometrics at University of Mannheim, Germany
The Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging (MEA) at the
University of Mannheim is searching for a graduate level academic
researcher for its Research Unit “Old-Age Provision and Savings Behavior”.
The mission of MEA is to evaluate, anticipate and accompany the micro-
and macroeconomic aspects of demographic change. Empirical models and
their resulting projections enable MEA to deliver sound scientific advice
for economic and social policy. MEA is part of several international
research networks and thus combines academic research on a high
international level with strictly scientific policy consultancy.
The Research Unit “Old-Age Provision and Savings Behavior” has
developed a panel survey on household saving and investment behavior, the
SAVE-survey, which is in the field since 2001. We seek candidates that would
like to participate in the administration and the development of the
SAVE-survey. The candidate is expected to have a strong interest in
economic research. Sound knowledge in statistics and microeconometric
methods and applications is required. Future research will have a focus on
various interdisciplinary aspects of savings behavior, as well as on
survey methodology. We also expect a willingness to participate in
international conferences and to contribute to our national and international
research network. The completion of a Ph.D. thesis is expected and will
be supported.
